AIDS and toxoplasmosis

It is usually by brain damage that occurs toxoplasma infection in patients with AIDS.
It is most often reactivation of intracerebral cysts.
Patients with IgG levels above 150 units / ml Toxoplasma are more likely to have a clinically speaking
cerebral toxoplasmosis.
Regular Toxoplasma IgG assay is useful for predicting a possible clinical manifestation, this especially if the CD4 count is below 200 per mm3.

A rate greater than 150 IgG should be considered for the establishment of a primary prophylaxis of cerebral toxoplasmosis, even if the CD4 is above 100 per mm3, of course depending on the decision the medical team.
