Allergic children should have a normal education, argues an association
,
Children allergic to certain foods
must have a normal education, argues a parents' association, the French
Association polyallergic, which offers various solutions, mainly to avoid
accidental consumption of allergenic products.
For parents, every year, the school
year is a concern that intensifies when children are allergic. School exclusion
is fear because all schools have no adequate response to this situation.
The origins of various food
allergies are: eggs, dairy products, peanuts, hazelnuts, cereals, meat, fish,
pulses, oilseeds, fruits, celery.
In some institutions, staff and some
officials make every effort to facilitate the integration of the allergic child
while respecting the pathological constraints. But, in general, before we get
to that stage, we had long discussions, seminars, round tables and publications,
says the association.
The association has also set up
hotlines to answer the many questions and support families in their efforts.
With these hotlines, it includes providing clear information on the
implementation of the "host individual Project" (IPA) established by
the Ministry of Education.
The IPA was created to provide
assistance and support to families with children and adolescents suffer from
health problems. This is a contractual document written from the dialogue
between the various people involved with the child, parent, principal, teacher,
doctor or nurse of Education, physician and representative of the municipality
where the child will in the canteen or daycare.
"The establishment of PAI has
shown that being allergic is not a debilitating disease, but a change in
lifestyle," said an official of the association recommends that parents
"not to overreact but explain the specific needs of the child. "
Just as parents need to understand
the disease and its constraints on the allergic child and bring him to manage
his allergy (teach him to say "no" for example), they are on the eve
of the fall meet the master or mistress and people in contact with the child to
the canteen to remember the specific needs of the child, also advises the
association
