It is the urge to vomit still called "heartbreaking."
It is often accompanied by salivation and contraction of the abdominal muscles and the involuntary contraction of the muscles of the pharynx.
It is related;
- Either with the irritation of the nerves of the oral and pharyngeal region
- Either with the irritation of the nerve centers of the medulla or brain stem.
CAUSES
Can be:
- Stomach, liver, gallbladder, intestinal (colic, appendicitis) renal, uterine.
- Seasick causes nausea
- The nausea of pregnancy in the first months are well known (see VOMITING OF PREGNANCY)
- Irritation by touching the base of the tongue causes nausea
- Violent trauma can trigger nausea
- The performance of certain dramatic situations can also be due to nausea.
Anyway, nausea is a symptom which the physician must find the cause for an efficient treatment.
