Heartburn and GERD

Heartburn is not a serious problem especially when casual.

However, if signs persist for more than 3 weeks and become more intense and / or regular, a medical consultation is necessary.
By what mechanism
Heartburn are secondary to irritation of the lining of the esophagus caused by the reflux of a small amount of stomach acid into the esophagus.

How to recognize heartburn?
Heartburn is characterized by a sensation of heat and pain epigastrium (in the stomach), which rises along the sternum.
