Chronic alcoholism and cirrhosis

Alcoholism is the leading cause of liver cirrhosis.
Alcohol is toxic to the liver and the development of liver cirrhosis is
dose-dependent.
This dose is estimated consumption of more than 30 grams per day (on
average) over a period of 6 to 10 years. However, before the development of
cirrhosis, all steps are reversible if the patient stops alcohol intoxication.
Indeed, the alcohol is processed largely in the liver. When the amount
of alcohol is excessive, the foiese fatigue and no longer able to remove toxic
components of alcohol.
