Alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver is the major cause of hepatocellular
carcinoma.
It is therefore essential to make a periodic testing of this disease in
the patients with liver cirrhosis.
The purpose is mainly to detect small tumors accessible to a cure.
It is therefore necessary to practice every 3 to 6 months a liver
ultrasound,
If a small nodule is detected, the diagnosis is based mainly on imaging,
a biopsy is not systematic. and must be based on the cure may be under
consideration.
Liver transplantation should not be systematic.
The treatment is based primarily on the destruction percutaneous or
surgical resection in some very specific cases.
After curative treatment of hepatocellular
carcinoma first surveillance must be very accurate because the risk of
recurrence remains high
