Cirrhosis: the main causes


Alcohol and viral hepatitis are the most common causes of liver cirrhosis.

Bile: greenish-yellow substance produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. This substance is involved in the digestion of food (especially fats) as they pass into the duodenum.
Lipoproteins (fat + protein) protein substances carrying lipids throughout the body.
Clotting factors: substances involved in the process of blood clotting.

Fibrinogen, IL (interleukin), CRP (C-Réactiv Protein): substances that occur in the acute phase of inflammation.
