AIDS and tobacco
,
HIV-positive patients who smoke pass
more quickly the disease AIDS (AIDS proved) that those who do not smoke.
The risk of developing the disease
is 1.5 to 2 times higher in smokers than non-smokers.
It is possible to explain this in
the sense that we know that smoking causes an increase in white blood cells,
which could allow faster replication.
Other experiments to confirm but
should be conducted before the confirmation it is prudent to advise
HIV-positive do not smoke.
In May 1993 it seemed likely was
confirmed by a British study. A statistical study showed that among
HIV-positive smokers switching to blown AIDS is almost two times faster.
The pathological processes involved
would be faster pulmonary immune deficiency. The virus invades more readily
alveolar Macrophages (the alveoli) in the smoking issue. However, the presence
of the virus in macrophages is a poor prognostic factor. This explains
the faster passage blown AIDS.
SHOULD REALLY that seropositive
REFRAIN FROM SMOKING.
