League against cancer, partner in the film by Bertrand Blier

The National League against the cancer is associated with the spread of the latest film by Bertrand Blier, "The Clink of Ice", which deals with the taboo of cancer without tweezers.
This film, which is released in theaters, tells the story of a man who receives a visit from his cancer.

Personified by Albert Dupontel, cancer happens very determined to Charles, a writer played by Jean Dujardin who no longer writes and lives in seclusion in a large house in the heart of the Cévennes where it is nothing more than drinking, carrying with him an ice bucket . He rings the door and said "Hello, I'm your cancer. I thought it might be a good idea to have a little knowledge." Then he moved, not loose more like an old troublemaker, threatening and immortal.

Charles and his cancer will experience a special relationship, tinged with a certain familiarity, drinking glasses together, discussing ... Then a struggle for life will settle with love.

With this explosive duo cast as the maverick director confronts the issue bluntly, using very accurate scathing dialogues about the disease and wielding a dangerous cynicism. The film entered in the register of black humor ice.

By Bertrand Blier invited to join the broadcast once finished, the League has agreed for the first time, a partnership because "this is the first time that cancer treated this way," said Christophe Leroux, communications director of the association of patients, at a press screening.

"The cancer had not yet been addressed like this, with so much humor, offset and so directly," he said. "Anything that contributes to cancer ghetto get us interested," he added.

Through this partnership, the League intends to convey a message of hope and break taboos about cancer. Bertrand Blier wants his film "can bring good mood about this terrible disease against which everyone struggle." Supporting the dissemination of the film, the League also wants to raise new intergenerational audiences.

For the association, feature film allows to highlight the plight of the sick, to demonstrate the importance of the support of the environment, promote volunteerism and activist and especially to change the social image focused on people with cancer.

The League leaders have watched with patients who were not shocked and even if they do not all share the views of the film (including the portrayal of caregivers), they believe that "Noise ice "reflects possible experience. "Many patients have a relationship with their cancer, they say 'this is my cancer", cites Christophe Leroux. A woman healed of cancer present at the screening confirmed that, at times, patients personify their cancer, talk to him. "Even cured cancer, it is the beast that is always there," she said.

The film also provides an opportunity to mention risky behaviors, such as alcoholism protagonist who drinks several liters of white wine a day, without being preachy.

The partnership is based on a side of the theatrical release. "The League has not put a euro, but the departmental committees are invited to offer rooms to organize discussions after the film with the audience and even offer discussion groups if ever sick or relatives were traumatized "said Christophe Leroux.

It is true that some about the film can hit the patients during treatment. It must have taken a certain distance with the disease to see the film. Bertrand Blier ignored all the irrational fears that we may have this disease.

For its part, the production has sent a letter to the directors of theaters and invite them to receive the League well. The association is not mentioned in the credits, but its logo appears on the film's website and she speaks of the movie on its own website.

Bertrand Blier had in mind the idea of the film for 20 years, but it would have been more difficult to achieve a few years ago. The image of cancer has evolved, thanks to the therapeutic advances that 58% -59% of patients to cure said Christophe Leroux. "Even if it is a serious disease, it must become an event in the life, accident of life that must go on" as shown in the film in which love is very present.

The director himself has been affected by the disease, as close and former patient. "I was like many people of my generation alert cancer that was quickly cured and very well cared for. My father died of prostate cancer because he did not want to heal," said Will it in an interview with Life magazine of the League.

"Talking about cancer today is a conversation we all have, because there are all facing. The only thing to do is to fight and heal well, I say to my friends , the strength of my experience. There are very few cancers that can not heal if taken in time. I am very optimistic about the issues of life expectancy, just look at the statistics, "said Bertrand Blier. The director reflects this optimism in the film that has a happy ending, in snub to this terrible disease.
