Symptoms of Alcoholism
The alcohol dependency is a disease
that slowly progressive course and has two clinical forms.
Signs of addiction
In addition to the criteria of
Goodman, addiction to alcohol is manifested by other signs of non-control
drinking.
We talk about addiction to alcohol
when three of the following signs appear in the subject:
- The subject has a tolerance to
alcohol with need higher amount to get the desired effect
- The subject addicted to alcohol
knows the risks and negative consequences of alcohol (professional
consequences, effects on health, effects on the environment)
- The subject wants to stop but can
not do
- Alcohol is taken in the morning
early in the day
- The subject is hiding bottles of
alcohol on the workplace or at home
- The subject likes to drink alone
and sometimes in secret
- Alcohol consumption is the most
important topic of occupation by sacrificing other leisure activities and
obligations.
