Prevention
of cirrhosis is focused on the prevention of causes, mainly:

Chronic
viral hepatitis C: Ribavirin, interferon
Chronic
viral hepatitis B: interferon, lamivudine, adefovir dipivoxil
Hemochromatosis:
bleeding.
Nonalcoholic
steatohepatitis: lifestyle and dietary measures. Diabetes control. Control of
hypertension. Control triglycerides and cholesterol. Control of overweight.
Autoimmune
diseases (primary biliary cirrhosis, autoimmune hepatitis): Corticosteroids,
immunosuppressants.
Wilson's
disease: D-penicillamine, trientine (copper chelator), zinc.
Diet low in
copper: Avoid pies, meat, lobster, dark chocolate, nuts, dried fruit.
Budd-Chiari
syndrome: Treatment of ascites.
Heart
failure: Inhibitor converting enzyme, beta-blockers, diuretics.
Deficiency
of alpha-1 antitrypsin: bronchodilators and corticosteroids. Stop smoking.
Cystic
fibrosis: physiotherapy, oxygen, pancreatic extract, high-carbohydrate diet,
hydration, antibiotics.
Treatment
of complications
Ascites:
Restriction of water and salt-free diet. Repeated punctures. Treatment with
albumin.
Hepatic
encephalopathy: Treatment of the cause of hepatitis, reduce the amount of
ammonia in the blood, resuscitation, transplantation ...
The
gastrointestinal bleeding: sclerotherapy or ligation of esophageal varices.
Signs of portal hypertension: low protein diet. Lactulose
