. Upper gastrointestinal bleeding

This is bleeding
whose provenance is oesophageal or gastric duodenal.
SYMPTOMS
The bleeding can
be very abundant or unimportant.
The patient
vomited blood red.
CAUSES
The main ones
are:
- Stomach ulcer
- Duodenal ulcer
- Gastric cancer
- Rupture of
esophageal varices (often associated with cirrhosis of the liver)
- Taking certain
medications: Aspirin, A I N S.... (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory). causing
acute ulceration.

Aorto-digestive fistulas
- angiomas
- Haemobilia
(issuance of blood through the bile ducts in relation to the migration of a

- Wirsungorragie
(bleeding in the main pancreatic duct.
TREATMENT
Should be
admitted because it is necessary to find the cause and location of the bleeding
by further investigations, especially endoscopic examination (see GASTROSCOPY).
This hopitalisation can be of the
utmost urgency if heavy bleeding
