Pregnancy and Food Allergy

In a newborn allergic (in which one or more family members have a food allergy) risk, you must:
Before birth:
- Advise the mother to stop smoking as well as family members living at home,
- Evict pets (especially cats)
- Prepare the child well ventilated,
- Recommend the mother to avoid taking allergenic foods (see FOOD ALLERGY, FOOD ALLERGEN) especially eggs, peanuts for the last 4 or 5 months of pregnancy.
During the period following the birth:
- No milk supplementation in pregnancy (the dangerous bottle)
- To encourage breast-feeding up to 5 or 6 months, if not use a substitute for milk (casein hydrolyzate or soy)
- In the breastfeeding mother, discouraged the taking of eggs, peanuts and spices.
Until the age of 2 years:
- Avoid PASSIVE SMOKING,
- Try to reduce airborne mite action (house dust, animal dander) (see MITES)
- Avoid solid foods before 6 months,
- No egg, no fish before 1 year
- No seed or peanuts before age 6,
- Avoid collective crèche.
